Bert Stone
ST. PARIS -- Bert Stone, 87, of 140 W. Troy St., St. Paris, died at 4:45 a.m. today in Champaign County Hospital. He had been hospitalized for two weeks.
He was born in Miami County, Cec. 30, 1875, the son of Robert and Anna Bell Stone. He has been a Champaign County resident for the past 63 years.
Stone had been a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Paris since 1901, and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was employed at a local furniture store for 38 years until his retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Buelah Morris (sic) [Beulah Maurice], of St. Paris, a son, Robert Stone, with the U.S. Army in Korea; a brother, Clarence, of Casstown; four grandchildren. His wife, the former Ida Johnson, died in 1951.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Baker Funeral Home, St. Paris, with the Rev. Alfred Nothstine officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday.
